Special Education Teacher Sign-On Bonus

    • (Teachers that receive this stipend are not eligible for the SPED Initiative Bonus.)

Critical Needs

Newly hired teacher in an identified hard-to-staff subject:

  • End-of-Course Math Class (i.e., Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Integrated Math I, Integrated Math II, and/or Integrated Math III)
  • High School Special Education
    • (Teachers that receive this stipend are not eligible for the SPED Initiative Bonus.)

K-5 Spanish Initiative

The K-5 Spanish Initiative has been established to recruit new Spanish Teachers and is not applicable to individuals seeking to shift from one Spanish teaching position to another Spanish teaching position within MSCS. Current licensed and unlicensed employees within the district serving in a relevant capacity may request to be reassigned or apply and take the necessary steps for endorsement in order to take advantage of the bonus opportunity. Teachers receiving this bonus are obligated to remain in a teaching position with MSCS in the designated Spanish classroom for 3 years.  

  • Existing District personnel may be eligible to receive tuition assistance for licensure or add-on endorsement in addition to a bonus in the amount of $3,000.  
  • External candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will be eligible for a sign-on bonus in the amount of $3,000.

**The following job titles qualify for this stipend: teacher, librarian, counselor.

***If employees have received this stipend in a previous fiscal year, they are not eligible to receive it again in the current fiscal year.

 

For employees who start on the first day of the school year, this stipend will be paid out after 20-day adjustments. 

NOTE: This does not mean the stipend will be paid on the 20th day with students. 

 

For employees who start after the first day of the school year, this stipend will be paid out on the next scheduled stipend payment date in the school year.

 

Teacher Referral Bonus

The Teacher Referral Program allows full-time District staff to refer high quality candidates for teaching vacancies and other critical, hard-to-fill instructional positions. In return, the referring employee will receive a cash bonus in the amount of $500. Please click the link below for eligibility requirements and the procedures for requesting/receiving the bonus.
